Theresa Gattari MD, PLLC

Expert care for ADHD, anxiety, and perinatal mental health, from a University of Michigan trained, board-certified psychiatrist.

I’m Dr. Theresa Gattari, a board-certified psychiatrist, passionate about caring for the whole person.

I specialize in ADHD, anxiety, OCD and perinatal psychiatry (pregnancy and postpartum) and use an integrative, holistic approach. I believe that meaningful and lasting progress is possible when we work together to address your mental health from a biological, psychological and social perspective. I use a wide range of tools including medications, supplements, psychotherapy, nutrition and lifestyle counseling to help patients go beyond just reducing their symptoms and actually thriving in their day to day lives.

If you’re looking for a psychiatrist who:

  • Will take the time to get to know you and understand your experiences and challenges in a deep way

  • Offers a treatment plan that incorporates but is not solely based on medications

  • Has the knowledge and expertise of a University of Michigan trained, board-certified psychiatrist

    …you’re in the right place.

As an integrative psychiatrist, I pay close attention to the role that your upbringing, lifestyle, and current social environment play in your mental health. In our work together, I draw on a wide range of tools to support your well-being, including medications when appropriate, evidence-based supplements, and personalized lifestyle counseling to address nutrition, sleep, and physical activity. I also incorporate mind-body practices such as mindfulness and relaxation techniques to help regulate the nervous system and foster resilience. Psychotherapy is a core component of the care I offer, providing a space for insight, healing, and meaningful change. This holistic approach allows us to address the root causes of distress and create a treatment plan that aligns with your values and goals.

  • Anxiety disorders

For many people with generalized anxiety, OCD, panic and other anxiety disorders, a combination of medications, supplements and Cognitive Behavior Therapy is most effective. I can help you discover freedom from crippling ruminations, fears, obsessions and panic attacks and learn to strengthen your relaxation response and access calm, peace and joy.

  • ADHD

ADHD affects approximately 4% of adults in the United States. Whether you were diagnosed in childhood or are only now beginning to recognize the unique ways your brain has shaped your experiences—both strengths and struggles—I can help you understand and navigate ADHD and its impact on your life. Through a personalized combination of medication, targeted supplements, and lifestyle-based interventions, we can work together to enhance focus, improve productivity, and perhaps most importantly, cultivate a greater sense of calm and clarity.

  • Perinatal Psychiatry: preconception, pregnancy and postpartum

I trained and worked with expert perinatal psychiatrists at the University of Michigan and have a wealth of knowledge on the safe and judicious use of medications and supplements in pregnancy and postpartum (including breastfeeding). I help women who are planning to become pregnant, currently pregnant or postpartum manage mental health concerns old or new with the ultimate goal of not only reducing symptoms but experiencing the joy and wonder of this special period of time.

  • Depression and Bipolar Disorder

I can help you lift the cloud of depression and calm the waves of bipolar disorder in order to experience life with more happiness, joy and fulfillment.

  • Life Transitions

Whether you’re adjusting to college, parenthood, empty nesting, retirement or facing grief and loss, major life transitions can have significant impact on our physical and mental health. My psychotherapeutic approach draws on psychodynamic psychotherapy, IPT (interpersonal psychotherapy), CBT and DBT to help you grow through these experiences and connect to yourself in a deep and authentic way.
